A winter group of 44 students and group members from PR China and Taiwan arrived at Zurich airport for a week full of activities at B.H.M.S.!
From 16th to 22nd January they had the opportunity to experience the world of hospitality, and were introduced to the many areas in this important and growing industry.
This one-week program offered an amazing experience to the visiting students and guests, with theoretical and practical activities. Among others, the program included lectures about the Swiss learning and working environment and the service industry with the following subjects: Business Communication, Career Development Skills and an Introduction to the Culinary Arts.
Part of this exciting week was also dedicated to short trips to the Swiss Alps and an excursion to Konstanz, a university city with approximately 80,000 inhabitants in the south of Germany, bordering Switzerland.
As B.H.M.S. is part of the Bénédict Education Group, one of Switzerland's oldest and Higher Education institutions, the visit to the Bénédict/B.H.M.S. Headquarter in Zurich and an evening dinner in the city was one of the highlights of this program. Zurich is one of the world’s main financial centres.
The last day of this winter tour group was dedicated to winter sports activities and an excursion to Engelberg, an alpine town in central Switzerland.
We hope all the participants got the most out of this week full of activities and that we can welcome them again soon at B.H.M.S.!
The first official day of the Winter Program started with a breakfast in the City Campus Restaurant. On the sequence, the group was formally welcomed by the B.H.M.S.' staff.
During the morning and afternoon they attended the following lectures:

The third day was thoroughly dedicated to outdoor activities and excursions to experience the winter time in Switzerland and its borders!
The group visited Einsiedeln, famous for its beautiful monastery which lies in the midst of a breathtaking landscape, and enjoyed the snow and the scenic views.
After that, they crossed the border and visited the city of Konstanz, in Germany, a lively university city on the shores of Lake Constance.
The day ended with a visit to the B.H.M.S./Bénédict Education Group Headquarter in Zurich and a meeting with Mr. Heinrich Meister (President of B.H.M.S. & Benedict Education Group) and Dr. Anthony Erb (International Programmes Dean) followed by a delicious dinner in the town.
During this day, the group participated in culinary demonstration classes, which also included a chocolate-making workshop!
On Friday, the group had time to enjoy the city of Lucerne for sightseeing and shopping.
Lucerne, where the B.H.M.S. campuses are located, is a tourist centre in Switzerland with impressive landscapes, surrounded by snowcapped mountains. It has a colourful and preserved old town with medieval architecture and one of the most photographed landmarks in the country: the Chapel Bridge!
On the last day of activities, the Winter Tour group went on a typical winter excursion to Engelberg, an alpine town and winter holiday destination in Central Switzerland.
They had a winter sport experience, sledding in the snowy mountain!
Sunday was the departure day and the Winter Tour 2017 came to it's end for this group.
It was an intense week, full of activities, and we believe that during this time the group got useful insights on the Hospitality Industry, and also enhanced their soft skills, besides discovering the beauty of Switzerland!
